Fun Learning Mandarin Chinese

This is a fun introductory course for children ages 5 to 10 with little or no background in Mandarin Chinese.  Students will learn Chinese Language and Culture through songs, rhymes, finger-play, traditional arts such as calligraphy, stories, and fun games.  The emphasis is on creating a very supportive and warm environment and developing a sense of accomplishment and motivation to continue learning Chinese.

The primary goal of this course is to help beginners build a solid foundation for learning Chinese and developing communication skills in listening and speaking.  Recognizing and writing characters are accomplished through meaningful focus on the etymology of the ideographs.  Throughout the classes, children will be introduced to “Pinyin” a phonetic, i.e. sound-based, system of writing.  The children will learn fundamental sentence patterns and essential vocabulary words.   Overall themes include telling time, body parts, animals, plants, family members, seasons, holidays, weather, weeks & months, foods, etc.

Our supportive and engaging teaching methods utilize unique creative ideas to make our lessons enjoyable and educational.  Our purpose is to give students a fun language learning experience.  By creating an environment of natural communication and meaningful interaction in Mandarin Chinese, children can learn this language as easily and comfortably as they’d learned their first language.
