Model United Nations

What is Model UN (MUN)?

Model UN is a program where students…

  • Learn about the impact of global issues faced by communities around the world and actions that people & countries can take.

  • Roleplay as delegates at a “model” United Nations conference where they discuss the issues & build consensus on actions that everyone can live with.

Why Model UN?

By participating in Model UN, students develop knowledge & skills that help them be successful in high school & college. It’s also a great activity for college applications & resumes.

Not only that, but at the college level, students can take part in Model UN Conferences across the country and around the world where they truly practice skills in diplomacy & international relations.

School Programs

Schools can help students prepare for conferences by sponsoring a Model UN Club or incorporating activities into their curriculum.

Getting ready for a Model UN Conference comes down to three basic steps. Students:

  • Research an assigned topic from the perspective of a particular country,

  • Write a 1-page paper that summarizes the topic and proposes some actions to take, and

  • Discuss with others at an MUN conference
