An Introduction to Botanical Color: Painting South African Flowers

  • The Lyceum 1073 6th Street Monterey, CA 93940 United States (map)

Learning how to mix colors is an important step in botanical illustration. In this class, science illustrator Erin E. Hunter will teach students some basics of color theory, with an emphasis on matching colors in leaves, stems and flowers. Our medium will be watercolor, and we'll discuss the importance of using good watercolor paper and pigments. South African flowers like proteas, leucodendrons and pincushions will provide the inspiration for our sketches and color studies. All skill levels welcome.
