In this two-day “mini-camp” students will dive into and explore multiple biological concepts through hands-on workshops and activities.
Day One: Students will see what their own DNA looks like, test how hand-washing affects bacteria spread, and find out if yeast is actually alive!
Day Two: We’ll learn about one of the most popular foods on the Monterey Bay: fish! Discovering the unique anatomy of fish and their underwater abilities while dissecting them and identifying body parts. We’ll then take a look at the microscopic world of cell transport using gummy bears, and finally “Cell-ebrate with Cookies” by designing your own cell on a cookie using frosting colors and toppings, learning the complexity of a cell while making something delicious!
