Model UN for High School
Conference Information & Registration
The 11th Annual Monterey County Model UN for High School Conference will take place on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey (miis.edu)!
2023 Topics & Committees
Thank you to everyone who completed our Topic Interest Survey! Students raised two inter-related issues: First, how do we sustainably improve access for all people to basic necessities like education, natural resources, and self-determination—regardless of gender, ethnicity, income, or other factors? Second, how do we deal with natural and human-caused events like disasters and wars that disrupt access?
Each committee will be tasked with protecting—and potentially expanding—access that people have to critical necessities related to their specific Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) outcome.
⚡CRISIS EVENTS⚡After resolution(s) are finalized—if time allows—committee chairs will introduce additional crisis events that present additional challenges for delegates to work through!
Now here are this year’s topics!
Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) | Challenge / SDG Outcome | Committee |

Quality Education | Ensure equal access for all women and men to affordable and quality technical, vocational and tertiary education, including university (4.3) | UNESCO General Conference |
