This workshop introduces students to the art of creating a three-dimensional sculpture and the essential elements that are incorporated in a form. The primary medium is clay with further opportunity to integrate mixed media (including recyclables) into each piece.
Projects will explore sculptures from around the world including ceremonial masks and Native American Kachina. Figurative style sculptures will include dinosaurs and sea life. Throughout the workshop, fundamental building skills and vocabulary for expression are emphasized. Students will come away with a greater understanding of how to see and interpret sculptural work.
