Mr. Nelson retired as the Gifted and Talented Education Coordinator for Monterey Peninsula Unified School District in 2005. Since then, he has been a gifted education consultant to Monterey County Office of Education, San Benito County Office of Education and various schools in the area. 

The Lyceum will continue to offer expanded enrichment educational opportunities and major academic events. Coming up is the Mock Trial on January 27th, 31st and February 2nd (all times are 5:30 p.m.), On February, 5th the finals contest will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Monterey County Courthouse, just off Aguajito Road, Monterey. 

Also upcoming is the Monterey County Spelling Bee for 4th and 5th graders at San Benancio Middle School on Feb 26th (9:30-12:30). History Day will be held at All Saints School on March 5th.

The Lyceum celebrated its 50th Anniversary last fall. We hope to provide unique and challenging learning opportunities for all Monterey County children.
