exciting world of journalism through workshops, lectures, and visits to local
media organizations.
- Learn from the
experts. Students will gain first-hand
knowledge about the many facets of journalism from top area professionals.
NOTE:
Student stories will be published in the Herald newspaper. Who Participates?:- The Lyceum of Monterey County‘s Journalism program is open to all high school students in grades 9 to 12.
- Students who are interested in pursuing a journalism degree or are interested in writing are highly encouraged!
How Does it Work?:
- Workshops: Focus will be on the basics of journalism — the who, what, when, where and why of writing a story.
- Behind-the-scene Tours: Exciting special guided tours to local media organizations. Students will get a first-hand look at the inner workings of journalism — both print and broadcasting.
- Meet the experts: Editors, reporters, and others will be on hand to discuss what it is really like to work in journalism today.
